The Pecan Tree

Dad planted a native Pecan sapling many, many years ago in the backyard. Us kids were a little bummed bedause we felt part of our backyard was taken away. But we adapted by using the tree as second base for our kickball and whiffle-ball games. Years later, a swing was hung from one its lower branches and soon became a place where family and friends would congregate to talk, laugh, watch the goats in the pastures behind us, or just sit and ponder. Whoever was there, could gather a few fallen pecans, crack them open to find a tasty treat to enjoy.
