Serenity Now

Time spent in the woods is precious to me. Woodlands, dry or wet, offer serenity and peace at the end of a long day and my favorite place to spend a Sunday morning is in the woods with my dogs. When vacationing I go out of my way to hike in local parks. This photo was taken in Arnold, CA at Calaveras Big Trees State Park. This park is significant to me because early on in my career I had the opportunity to work in California's Sierra Nevada range and spend time exploring the foothill towns of Murphys, Arnold, Sonora, Truckee, and Columbia. These communities are nestled in the Stanislaus National Forest. In May 2008 I returned to Calaveras Big Trees State Park and spent the day hiking, dwarfed by the giant sequoias. It is easy to lose track of life's troubles when you are distracted and awed by the age and size of these amazing trees.
